Has making money online as a freelancer become harder?

I remember I started making money as a freelancer online back in 2012, and back then, I would never struggle to get orders for my services, and would make quite a bit for the work I completed.

Fast-forward 14 years, and I feel it is difficult now to get clients who are reliable and consistent, meaning that earning money online as a freelancer is not always as easy as it used to be.

Are you a freelancer working online? Do you find it more difficult now to make money compared to, say, 10 years ago?

I haven't considered making money as a freelancer seriously yet. I have a full time job. But I think there is a huge competition and it is getting harder

I believe so, as AI services make it easier than ever before to get content cheaper for some, and they don't need to hire freelancers for certain tasks.

Especially for graphic work, and for writers.

The same applies for programming, and the like.

It's a catch 22- and a cycle.

I don't see it ending anytime soon though, as AI is here to stay.

I had become harder but the reason isn't AI. It is due to the competition. These days more people try to work as a freelancer as compared to 10 years, thus making it very difficult to acquire freelancing contracts.
