I’ve never studied it, but I use it based from experience and intuition.
Pre-bubble is the most aggressive part of the tournament short stack usually become shy players that will fold trying to the money if necessary we’re big stacks will shove aggressively most the time the size of their stack is enough warning. You don’t want to get involved with it lol
But there’s always a little shred of luck then can come your way just the right time and you’ll double up.
So yes it’s a big help knowing when and how to use it.

To be honest, I've never really studied ICM in depth either, but I have a basic understanding of it and understand the concept. It hasn't changed the way I play very much because my mindset is always to play for the win rather than simply laddering up the payouts.
