Cosmetics have become a major revenue stream in gaming. Is it identity expression, social status, or peer influence in multiplayer spaces? Why do some communities embrace microtransactions while others reject them completely, even for non-pay-to-win items?

Cosmetics matter have surpasses just ths “skin” talk 😂. Some people just want to show their presence in the lobby like “I am here, I’m different. And other things like that.

Frankly speaking, I am not much into buying cosmetic items and skills but I know a lot of players do that. I am not quite sure why they frequently spend money on cosmetic items when they are supposed to invest more into the gameplay

Players invest in cosmetics for self-expression, status, and identity. Limited-time offers and rarity increase value, while social influence from friends and streamers adds pressure. It’s emotional appeal more than gameplay advantage that drives spending.
