Generally speaking in a lot of countries, especially in the United States, you have to report your online income. Winnings from poker sites aren't any different. If it enters your paypal account or anything like that, they see it. You'll get audited it for it.
I also see it happen on social media. People brag about their earnings, like "I made this from social media, I made that,". It's humble beginnings too me, not necessarily related to gambling, but I don't find it necessary to post your income anywhere online.
