I believe for most players it it is easier to build a bankroll playing cash games. That's because cash games have lower variance, steadier results, and flexible session lengths, as compared to tournaments. Also, you can quit anytime and protect your bankroll better.
If you already know basic things and want to build knowledge and experience playing, I do not see any harm in trying cash games but make sure you play with just a small fund. But it is generally advised that you build knowledge before you try with cash.
Bankroll management is non-negotiable for me. I always keep at least 30 to 50 buy-ins for a stake and move down when needed. I do not usually chase losses.
I choose tables with weaker, loose players and avoid tough lineups. I leave when the table tightens, strong players replace fish, or I feel tired or unfocused. I also leave table when I think I have lost or won enough.
I balance aggression with patience by playing fewer hands, attacking in position, and betting confidently when I have an edge. I always try to stay disciplined during dry spells and wait for profitable spots to apply pressure.
Online players rely heavily on stats and patterns, while live players rely on instincts. Where do you think bluffs work better, why do you think it works better? Has bluffing paid off for you or backfired badly?
Online swings can be brutal, on the other hand live poker ties up more money per session. Do you use separate bankroll rules for online poker vs. live poker games? What buy-in limits or stop-loss rules do you use to avoid tilt?
Fast tables and multi-tabling can push players into loose habits. How do you control hand selection, especially when playing online? Do you use preflop charts or self-imposed rules to stay disciplined during long sessions in online poker games?
At low stakes poker games, simple mistakes can be very frequent. Which small changes can make a big difference for you? Better starting hand selection, position awareness, or avoiding marginal bluffs, what exactly works for you?
Online poker is faster and more math driven, while casino poker is slower and more psychological. What adjustments have worked for you? Do you tighten up and bluff less, or focus more on reading players and betting patterns?
I think it is possible to become pro just by playing at home, however, whether you can do it or not is a different matter. You need to to continuously learn, build strategies and play a lot
I approach home game just like online casino game or even live casino games. It does not matter if I am playing for cash or without cash, I treat the game with the same level of interest. That's because for me fun element is more important.
I like to play in casinos, not online casinos but real casinos. I enjoy food, drink, and then the game. However, I don't go to casino too often, and I mostly play online casino from home.
I always play with a set amount and I never go above it. As of now that is $25. Since I have placed limitation, I don't lose more than $25. As far as winning is concern, I also stop at some point when I start winning. Maximum I have won is about $40.
I usually play online from home, I have tried playing live game at home but since i do not have a lot of friends or family playing Poker, I cannot play live game much.
That's Nepal. Gambling is altogether illegal. However, there are casinos and only foreigners are allowed to enter casinos. Gambling brings a lot of revenue but they only allow foreigners to play. Sometimes they allow gambling in the name of raffle or fun events.
Poker is a casino game, which means playing poker is gambling. No parents are willing to let their kids gamble. However, if you are an adult and if you are already making money, I don't think your parents will strictly object. I don't hide from my parents. I play responsibly.
We don't have a lottery here but in the past government organized lottery especially when trying to raise funds for certain events. I don't think Poker has anything to do with lottery. Lottery is just a game of luck, if you are lucky, you win. Poker needs to played with a strategy.
That's very true. Poker isn't like any other casino game where you sit on the table and start betting. You can make the game favorable for you if you can build a strategy and make better decision. And this all requires mental preparation.
