son of Canadian singer Celine Dion, is singing his own tune deep in the 2025 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event.
The 24-year-old offspring of an iconic songstress entered Thursday's Day 5 session in the $10,000 buy-in tournament with over 100 big blinds, with 522 players remaining. He has as strong a chance at winning the $10,000,000 first-place prize as anyone still standing.

Angelil doesn't just come from musical roots. His late father, René Angelil, was an avid poker player with over $750,000 in live tournament cashes, according to The Hendon Mob. Daniel Negreanu told PokerNews that the elder Angelil, who married Dion in 1994, would often stop into Bobby's Room at Bellagio to play high-stakes cash games while his wife performed at nearby Caesars Palace.

Angelil, who has just two recorded live tournament cashes for around $3,000, spoke to PokerNews on the second break of Day 5 about his poker career and his celebrity mother.

The son of a musical legend, and a "damn good golfer," according to Negreanu, has two younger brothers — both twins. He inherited his mother's passion for music and recorded his own hip-hop EP in 2021. His mother told People magazine at the time how proud she was of her oldest son. Angelil shares his mother's love for music, but does she enjoy poker?
"My mom, not so much. But my dad was an avid poker player. I kind of picked it up from him. I've been playing for quite a long time, since I was like five years old, you know, playing him heads-up and stuff," Angelil answered.
Dion isn't a poker player, but "she appreciates the strategic part of the game."
"But she won't be sitting down in any 2/5 games across the city any time soon," Angelil chuckled.
Angelil's famous and talented mother isn't a poker fan. But he said if he makes the final table, where he would play for the $10,000,000 first-place prize, he anticipates she'll be in attendance at Horseshoe showing her support.
The young poker player is competing in his third WSOP Main Event. He didn't cash the first two years, but he's already secured at least $40,000, more than the cost of three years' worth of Main Event buy-ins. Angelil isn't focused on his cash so much as he is on rebuilding his stack after bluffing a chunk of it off just before the third break of Day 5.
"He made a great call, but I still have chips and I'm still alive," Angelil said about a big bluff that didn't get through.
There were 371 of the 9,735 entries remaining on Day 5 at the time of publishing. Angelil has already made it deep in the biggest event in poker. It's now a matter of just how deep he will go. If he reaches the final table, there could be an unexpected celebrity in attendance.
