Should players that use a VPN be banned from poker sites?

I've been hearing that certain players having been using a VPN in order to play online poker on sites they normally wouldn't be able to.

What do you think about players that use a VPN? Should their funds be seized on the sites they play for hiding their real location?

If you know who the site is, I only think it's fair for the site to know who you are. This is because if they ever come under investigation (from the tax man) to get records, they might be liable for not know who they sent funds to as it could, from the outside, appear that they are sending it to themselves, pocketing it, and not reporting it.

No, I don't think their funds should be seized though. They should be given a warning and 30-90 days to cash out. Then, a note made on that user and the amount paid out. That way, the site can cover their 6 more easily.

If I had to make a decision on this, imma say the VPN users should all be banned from poker sites. There is need for fairplay. Using VPN will be undermine fairplay. Also, It's totally against site terms because it can creates an unfair advantage.

These days, sites like GGPoker Or WPN easily identify multi-accounts through the device's IMEI, which can't be changed using a VPN.

A VPN only changes your location, which doesn’t really help in creating a new account. As you mentioned, account verification before playing is a much more effective way to prevent multi-accounts.

In the real world, when you want to enter a casino, they check your ID and verify your identity before letting you in. It's rare to find a casino that denies entry just based on your nationality.

But do you think people can still see your info on a vpn how many people willl be using your vpn ip address before you use it or after you use it

Poker sites have mechanism which can detect those wanting to cheat. Even when they use a VPN it does not really work for them. Account verification alone is enough to handle things like that.

I think it's better to implement a verification process because that is a viable way to shut out people that are using VPNs.

My worry with making use of a VPN to play poker online is the multiple identities a player can create while not using their true identity. So, banning them won't be a bad choice as far as I am concerned. They should come clean about who they are when it comes to playing poker games online.

But the key thing is letting the admin know if it is not allowed on that site. I believe poker site admins are humans and would see reasons to permit players who have genuine concerns to use VPN on the site. Let's face it, what reason should make any player want to make use of vpn in playing poker, can you think of any one? If you are real, there is no need to hide behind anything at all.

I think it depends on why they're using VPN. Some people just want privacy or live in restricted areas, which seems harmless. But if they're bypassing regulations or hiding their real location to play illegally, that's different. Maybe warnings first, then bans for repeat offenders who clearly break rules.
