Fear and anxiety can hold you back from making good decisions and not playing your best game. These emotions should also be acknowledged and eliminated.by a player to improve his poker performance.

How can a beginner overcome fear and anxiety at the table.

Play low/micro stakes, and don't move up until you comfortably dominate those levels. You can also start with freerolls, and get some practice for free with a chance to win real money. I wouldn't play for play money because any experience you gain from those tables would be invaluable.

Even though the idea of playing freerolls or micro-stakes is a good one, you also have to consider that generally the players that are playing at these tables are either low-skilled or just don't particularly care and so don't really tend to "play good poker" as such. What I mean by this is, they are not generally a good "feel" for playing normal poker.

If you migrate from playing solely freerolls into cash-only games, you will fast find you're lost. This will probably lead to even more anxiety, if you're already prone.

Yes! You ought to start with low stake games while building your confidence and decreasing the level of anxiety. That's how it works!

To overcome fear at the table, play at the lowest stakes or even freeroll games as much as you can.. This will lessen your fear and anxiety when playing, thus helping you build confidence and you can gradually transcend into higher stakes as your skill improves.

If you play game with what you can afford to lose without making you depressed or cause you sleepless night, there will be less anxiety and fear. Fear comes when you gamble with fund you can't afford to lose. The best way to kill anxiety is to make sure that the fund at stake will not cause you depression.

To kill the spirit of fear and anxiety during a poker game, it's best to play stakes that are within one's reach and affordable. Confidence can come from playing low-stakes and freeroll games.
