No. I've always kept my phone in a protective case and that case is enough to keep it from getting damaged.

I haven’t cracked my phone yet despite dropping on the flood multiple times

I make use of phone case and screen protector always. Even if my phone fell down, it's not going to break unless I smash it with a harmer or stronger object.
