General Strategy Be honest: Do you study to be a better poker player? or just play for fun?

I don't really study poker anymore if I'm being honest. However, I keep an open mind because no matter how good, or experienced of a player you are, you can always learn how to improve/fix leaks.

I play for fun, but I always try to win. I set goals for myself, and I try to achieve them. I study my own gameplay, if I feel I'm playing poorly, I'll take a break, and make some adjustments.

How about you? Do you study poker to become a better player?

I don't open training courses very often anymore. I receive a lot of emails with bite sized info. If something interests me I often go down a rabbit hole.

I am in a small group on Facebook messenger with some of the best players I know so often we dig into strategy. Lastly I have one friend whom I email with regularly as he has been studying GTO for a few years. Seems there's always something to keep me engaged.

Let's be honest, no one likes to lose everytime, even if they are 'playing for fun'. So let's say I study about poker to become a better player, and also have fun while at it!

Well, poker is not only for skill improvements but also for enjoyment. In that vein, I play to improve and also have some fun too. Poker could be used as a relaxation game. Perhaps, I can improve my skills through tutorials..

Am still learning and don't take my losses so serious because they are all part of learning. Now, poker is simply fun for me. Though, I don't like to lose but I don't take it to heart. From experience, you will not learn much if you keep winning all your games! I accept whatever comes my way as part of learning.

im similar to this and dont really study anymore, if there is something specific to look at ill take a look, i started studying when 9yo son was born so i didnt have to deposit money to play. i was given $50 to make do and if it didnt work id forget about cards. lucky im still here 9 years later and never really been on a bad downswing, i will study more in the future when time permits but content with getting volume in and playing atm, i play micros/low now but the end goal is to sit in mid stakes and take shots at bigger games. im still a fun player at the end of the day but will give it a fair shot in time just keep grinding the BR up. i set small goals every week really and take 1 step at a time

I believe so much in study when it comes to poker. And like every other aspect of life, I really feel like poker is evolving. That's why one needs to keep an studying because same strategy might not work as poker evolves. I am leaning towards software to run analysis of my hands history. I am also watching many reputable poker games and tournaments to learn new strategies that I can use to improve my poker.

Playing poker is fun, and I always look for fun element. Well if I am a better poker player, I believe the fun element will double as I might win more, make even more money, but frankly speaking I have never tried improving my skills, I have never tried learning to become a better player.

I don’t study poker heavily but I pay attention to my own behavior. If something feels off, I slow down and make adjustments. I also watch charts and videos once in a while, just to pick up new ideas or fix small mistakes. I believe you can always learn something, even if you’re not studying nonstop. Keeping an open mind and being honest with yourself helps both in the money and fun as well.
