Someone told me a lot of things about The Mathematics of Poker. I have not taken out time to read it yet. But I just want you guys to suggest more to me or probably the best one to read first. What book had an impact on your game?

There's this book called the "Applications of No-Limit Hold’em" by Matthew Janda. It really changed the way I thought about bet sizing and board texture. It’s more modern and gets you thinking in a balanced way, I feel.

The Mental Game of Poker hit me differently, no doubt . That book made me realize that poker is a long-term grind and it strictly needs discipline.

This thread looks to be an old one, but but what the heck…..
I started with this Super System by Doyle Brunson I found The Theory of Poker by David Sklansky hit closer to home for at the time. Their great books, their classics, but the game as evolve so much over the years.
I would suggest the one mention above The Mental game of Poker by Jared Tender
If you play live games check out Playing the Player: Moving beyond ABC Poker to dominate your opponent by Ed Miller

Honestly, I’ve never read a single poker book, but I’ve always heard good things about Doyle Brunson’s Super System. It was recommended to me a few times in the past.

I actually played on Doyle’s Room before it became ACR.

Wow… there not a lot of people left that actually remembered also I’m not sure what period you were there, but there were a lot of promotions back. Then Todd actually played in the games with us…. what a different time for Poker that was God I miss it.

Life is like a game of poker: it is not about what cards you are dealt, but how you play them.
