The Kansas City Chiefs dived into the wide receiver trade market with a major move on Wednesday morning. They struck a deal with the Tennessee Titans to land star receiver DeAndre Hopkins, according to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport, who cited sources familiar with the agreement.
The trade involves a fifth-round pick that could upgrade to a fourth-rounder, with Tennessee covering about half of Hopkins’ remaining salary. ESPN was the first to break the news.
Hopkins was an obvious target to address the Chiefs’ glaring need at receiver. Though he started the season slow after recovering from injury, the veteran wideout has shown he can still win one-on-one battles and haul in tough catches.
