I read one article written by a psychologist and he claimed that poker playing do help break negative psychological traits like aggression, fear, depression etc. According to the article, poker helps the brain to develop and advance cognitive thinking thereby seeking alternative means to resolve life issues like aggression, fear, depression, procastination etc. The writer emphasized that poker game like other mind games help the mind seek alternative problem resolution methods!
What's your opinion on this assertion?

this sounds interesting and a good read, i wouldnt mind reading or watching this. alot of new players get soo angry/depressed cos they dont understand the game properly and quit before they know the names of positions etc i have aggression, fear, depression, and i procrastinate soo damn much cos i want to keep regging its a real thing. ive played 20+ years and it didnt help me like rehab did, im a dry alcoholic and cards help keep me on the straight and narrow. i love the psychology of poker just as much as the cards dealt, its where edges can be made

One thing that poker really did for me was help me to improve my decision making. That has instigated me to be calmer even when I am facing pressuring situations. I am less likely to react emotionally because poker has always punished me when I approached it with emotions. That has helped me combat aggression.

Yes,I think poker can help with habits like aggression. The game teaches patience, self-control, and thinking before acting. You have to stay calm and make careful decisions, even under pressure.

I think it could, even though I don’t play much myself. Sitting and paying attention to your own decisions and reactions could help you notice patterns, like getting too aggressive or impatient. Learning to wait for the right moment and be patient not only helps in the game but can carry over to life too, making it easier to stay calm and think things through before acting or before doing things in the wrong way.
