There is a huge difference between online poker game and live game. Online poker game is fast and monotonous in nature. When distraction is low, variance tends to hit harder. In normal live game, interpersonal interaction makes the game seems slow and less businesslike.

But I have come to realize that the slow nature of live games is what makes it seem variance is lower on live games. But it is literally the same.
