There is a huge difference between online poker game and live game. Online poker game is fast and monotonous in nature. When distraction is low, variance tends to hit harder. In normal live game, interpersonal interaction makes the game seems slow and less businesslike.
Do you believe that variance hit harder online games than live games?

Yeah, it definitely feels like variance is more brutal online. You're playing way more hands per hour, so the swings happen faster and feel more intense. Plus you can't see physical tells to help make better decisions. The speed of online play just amplifies everything - both the good runs and bad beats.

When you are playing many hands in quick succession as is the case with online poker, there is no way that you won't feel that variance hits harder. I used to feel the same way too. But I have come to realize that the slow nature of live games is what makes it seem variance is lower on live games. But it is literally the same.

A lot of players definitely feel like variance hits harder online because the pace is so much faster. you're playing way more hands per hour than live poker. So you experience more swings in a shorter time which can feel more brutal. Plus, without physical tells, it might seem more random and unpredictable at times.
