Government Sponsored Lottery Programs

[Nomad]

Many years ago, in order to build funds to run an international sports tournament, our government ran a lottery program. The program was closed after the government was able to collect desired amount. These days they are running tax payer incentive programs where your purchase bill can be entered for a lottery and win upto 1 million cash.
Does your government run any kind of lottery programs?

Government lottery can raise funds for projects but don't you think it's encouraging gambling? Yes, it does. We have a national lottery here too but their transparency is questionable.
