Generally speaking poker is gambling and gambling for the people under 18 years is not allowed in many countries. What about playing poker at home, for fun? What would be the minimum age for the kids at your home to play poker. How young is too young to play poker?

Honestly, anything involving money and pressure should wait till someone is mature enough. Age limits exist for a reason. Young people should focus on school, skills, and enjoying life without stress.

think poker for fun at home is different from gambling. If it's just for entertainment with no money involved, kids could learn the basics pretty young maybe around ten or twelve when they understand strategy and math.

I think once you become an adult, you should be able to gamble or play poker. I just wish online poker was open to the world, without a bunch of restrictions.

Poker needs a maturity more than age. I've seen grown men chase losses like kids. Personally, I think if you can't control your emotions, you’re too young mentally to play poker.
.

its hard to say and depends on the environment abit too im sure, ive been playing cards my whole life (not just poker) and from the age of 7 was playing (cribbage/euchre/kings and assholes etc) for matchsticks then it progressed to 1 and 2c pieces and now just micro and low buyins. my 10yr old son is starting to understand alot of poker theory just by asking questions. kids pick things up quickly

This is a good question. I would say that someone who is looking to play poker for real money with real risks they shoud not be below the age of 18. If they are looking to play for fun and learn, the ages of 9 and above I feel are a good age.

Anyone who allows someone to play poker for real money with real risks, I feel, isn't great.

I've known kids who are under 18 years but have been so much deep in gambling in my country. The authorities are not doing anything about it because they take bribe to shut up. In my opinion, only adults should be legally allowed to play poker and gamble.

I agree, but I think it's fine to play home games if your underage(with your parents). That's how I originally started playing poker.

If a kid is playing under the guidance of their parents, they are literally not playing alone, so it's safe. I'm completely in support of that.

My dad and his relatives used to get together all the time to play poker and I'd stand behind them and watch, but couldn't figure out how they were playing! I don't think little kids should bet for money or snacks, but learning card games helps the brain.

It wasn't until I was in high school that I was taught how to properly play, and that was in French class when we were told we had a free period. It wasn't until the following week that we got told we couldn't play anymore, even though we weren't betting.
