Poker With Friends vs. Strangers

Who do you prefer playing poker against: friends or complete strangers?

I’ve had some of the most fun playing poker with friends, both online and live. However, once we sit down at the table, I have a rule: we’re not friends, no matter who you are to me.

I’d rather win money from players I don’t know personally, but I still really enjoy home games with friends.

Personally, I don't have any problem playing with anyone and it doesn't matter if they are my friends or strangers. Although, I would definitely prefer to take money away from strangers than taking away money from my friends.

I'd rather play against strangers. Some friends might get mad if you win more than then and take their money. If I really like that friend, I wouldn't want to take all their money (assuming I'm any good at poker) or end up ruining that friendship.

I am fine with playing with any type of person. My only request is that courtesy is done as regards when to play and how it should be done. I don't enjoy playing the game with sore lovers who won't feel relaxed and ready to continue assuming they lost.

It's exactly how I feel about taking any amount of money from my friends. Unless we have an agreement on who ever wins would be buying all rounds of beer for the guys at the pub.

I also love being deep in a tournament and seeing my poker friends doing well in the same event. I don’t feel too bad taking them out in those situations, though, because at that point, we’re all guaranteed to make some money.

This is why I so much love playing poker with my friends too. There’s always more excitement when you’re competing against people you know, even if it gets a little awkward when you’re the one sending them home but as long as everyone wins in the end, it's all that matters.

I have payed with strangers at the casino but I didn't enjoy as much as I enjoy while playing with friends and family. When you play with strangers, you only think about money, but with friends, it is all about having good times

When playing with friends, I prefer smaller-stakes games. That way, it doesn't sting as much if you lose, but it's still nice to win.
