When you're choosing tournaments to play, do you prefer smaller fields or larger fields?

Smaller fields usually mean a better chance of making the money and reaching final tables, but the payouts are often smaller.

Larger fields can have much bigger prize pools and top-heavy payouts, but you'll need to outlast a lot more players and deal with more variance.

Personally, I think both have their advantages depending on your goals. If you're looking for more consistent results, smaller fields can be appealing. If you're chasing bigger scores and don't mind the swings, larger fields can be worth the shot.

Which do you prefer and why? Do you adjust your tournament selection based on bankroll, skill edge, or simply what games are available?
