Playing poker online have many disadvantages which includes the atmosphere of poker table is not available. Secondly, you can not be able to read players. Online poker don't give you that privilege to players . Another likely disadvantage is that you may be playing with bots but you are not aware. There may be technical glitches which may result in losses.

I would say internet connection, nothing sucks more than having a great streak/hand going on and then lose it all because you lost access.

That technical and network issues is a very big drawback of playing poker online. You probably have developed a strategy and a sudden network glitch causes the game to be disrupted. And before everything is back working again, you might have forgotten the strategy. It is happened to me several times playing poker online.

No live tells, so you're guessing more. Faster pace means tilt hits harder and you bleed money quicker. Tech issues freeze you out of hands. Also easier to play when tired or distracted, no dealer watching you. And honestly, online feels less social. Sitting alone in your room isn't quite the same as a live game.

I’ve had it happen before, and during big hands too. It would be especially painful in a cash game compared to a tournament. I’d probably go on full life tilt if I lost a significant amount because my Wi-Fi dropped.

I’d say the lack of live tells is a disadvantage in online poker, but it’s also an advantage for players who struggle to hide their emotions.
