With the way things are right now, I can't be throwing my money around just because I want to improve my game. There has to be sensible free ways to practice first. l think free tables, training apps and watching experienced players explain their decisions would make sense before risking the real cash. It's always better to practice first.

I wouldn't recommend playing play-money tables if you're trying to gain experience that will help you improve. While I believe most of the experience you gain from freerolls won't translate directly to real-money games, it's still valuable if you can consistently make deep runs in large-field tournaments.

I think free-play games are a good place to learn the basics without risking money. You can also watch hand breakdowns, study strategy articles, and review your own decisions after each session.

Read the SuperSystem. Find someone to play heads up live and learn all the outs/odds. Play live as often as possible with people better than you.

Playing online play a diverse a group as possible. I suggest ring games @ micro stakes working your way up.

Don't be afraid to mix it up. You only learn by the bad beats.
