Do you think poker is more of a men's game?

I get that poker is a game that can be played by everybody - both man and woman but I can't help it with feeling that it's played more by men. It's like men are more into gambling than women from my perspective.

What do you think? Do you believe playing poker is played more by men than women?

There are a lot of great female players at that. I mean, they can compete against the guys and win comfortably, and such competition is what I like a lot about the game of poker.

I don't think the gender thing means much these days. That's just a throwback to the USA 1950s and all the images of Frank Sinatra or something, lol. Anyway, though, I am just speaking from an American perspective. I don't know about other nations.

I do not believe that poker is predominantly a men’s game. Those days are gone when only most men played it. I know many women who play it nowadays.

Based on what I see, poker has been male driven, and it doesn't mean that females don't play poker too. Watching the game now, really, you would find more women entering the arena, and some of them really do prove themselves at the table.

I agree there's been a rise of female poker players. I know some females that are absolute beasts.

The poker work is probably 50/50 these days with both females and males competing. However, years ago it was more than likely dominating by just males.

Poker is not a physical game, so I don't think differences in gender mean anything at all. Well, some sexist men might claim that men and women's brains are different. It's like when they say women can't drive a car or vote.

Poker was once a man's game, but the game has changed over time. It now creates room for equal competition among the sexes. @Jason I agree that it is about strategy, not physicality. Therefore, gender is not really a factor when it comes to this game.

I get where you're coming from; poker has mostly been played by men in the past. But more women are joining the game now and changing that. It's important to make poker welcoming for everyone, no matter their gender. Things are slowly improving.

It depends on the societal values and beliefs. In western countries, there is nothing wrong about women playing poker or anything other games. In fact, about 20% of women are into gambling. In developing countries, it is rare and unheard of that women do gambling.

Before, I used to think that poker is a game that is only meant for men. In western countries, I've seen a lot of women participating in poker and exhibiting great poker skills. A lot of them even used the so-called female strategy to defeat their male counterparts during tournaments.

In my country, you would hardly see a woman get involved in simple gambling like lottery. Talk more of poker. Six years playing poker, I have never encountered a woman in a poker room. I have met a few female poker players online from other countries though.
